WILDER CITY
My first design and renovation was in Bernal Heights in San Francisco. A 1930’s cottage that someone did a sad 1980’s home depot renovation to it. I reached out to my friend Craig Steely, my favorite architect in SF. I told him he had free reign as long as I had 3 things. I wanted it to be painted all black, I wanted the trash cans hidden and I wanted an entrance to my downstairs studio/office from the front vs going in through the garage. He focused on the front of the house and designing the entrance area and enclosing the stairs, adding a gate and creating a place a privacy off the street that I never had before.
I loved every minute of pencil drawings on drywall with Craig and the amazing craftsmanship of his team.
I teamed up with Marcus from One Hat One Hand to design together my studio kitchen and cabinets. The design was made so they all could be moved along with me, should I sell the house. In the end the folks I sold the house to loved them so much, I left them.
The enormous glass window was my favorite dogs spot and I would sit and watch the fog roll into the city at night. Craig designed the aluminum to be fabricated in the East Bay and they literally came and just popped it in. Brilliant design and the material was great for the weather and the pink door danced off its highlights.
The final touch was the front door, I always wanted a magenta door and my boyfriend at the time picked the color. It literally was the cherry on top.
